We are excited to launch our new E-Learning Course: An Introduction to PACE. This course is one of our most recent releases and includes a comprehensive and accessible learning experience designed to support professionals, carers, and parents who are working with or caring for children impacted by developmental trauma.
Rooted in the principles of Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy (DDP), this course explores the origins and application of PACE (Playfulness, Acceptance, Curiosity, and Empathy) as a therapeutic approach. Whether you are a seasoned practitioner, a foster or adoptive parent, or simply seeking a deeper understanding of trauma-informed care, this course offers valuable tools and insights to guide your journey.
Why PACE Matters
PACE is more than just a method, it’s also a mindset. Developed by clinical psychologist Dr. Dan Hughes, it offers a relational framework for creating safety and trust with children who may have experienced early trauma. These children often struggle with attachment, emotional regulation, and trust, and therefor, traditional parenting strategies may not be effective.
Our course is designed to help you understand why these challenges may present by enhancing your knowledge of attachment theory and the impact of developmental trauma. By deepening this understanding, you will be better equipped to respond to the children within your care with empathy, structure, and emotional safety.
What You Will Learn
This E-Learning experience is self-paced and flexible, making it ideal for busy professionals and caregivers alike. Throughout the course, you’ll be given the opportunity to:
Enhance your understanding of attachment and developmental trauma
Learn the foundations of PACE and therapeutic parenting
Reflect on your own experiences
Explore if therapeutic parenting could benefit your family or organisation
More Than Just Learning
We know that working with children who have experienced trauma can be both deeply rewarding and incredibly challenging at times. This course doesn't shy away from that reality and instead, meets you where you are, paired with compassion, practical support, and a reminder that you’re not alone.
At its core, An Introduction to PACE encourages you to trust in the process - not just the child’s journey, but your own as well. By walking this path together, we aim to support better outcomes, deeper connections, and brighter futures.
